Illinois — Advocate Health Care

We opened our first Cardiometabolic Clinic, which combines the prevention and treatment of cardiometabolic illnesses for patients with type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease risks through a team-based, customized care approach.

Wisconsin — Aurora Health Care

We became the first in Illinois and Wisconsin to use the new Allia IGS Pulse technology to diagnose and treat cardiovascular diseases. We also have one of the most top-rated heart hospitals in North America.

North Carolina — Atrium Health Greater Charlotte

We're the first in the Carolinas to offer proton beam therapy, a highly precise treatment that targets tumors with fewer side effects than other forms of radiation therapy.

North Carolina — Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist

We're the first in the Carolinas to perform a robotic-assisted cochlear implant procedure. A thumb-sized robot allowed a surgeon to guide an implant more slowly and precisely than a human is capable of.

Georgia — Atrium Health Floyd & Harbin Clinic

Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic completed their strategic combination, building on decades of a shared legacy. The combination added 123 clinicians and increased the Atrium Health Floyd teammate base by almost 37%, totaling 5.3K+ teammates.

Georgia — Atrium Health Navicent

We're the first in Central Georgia to perform a Barostim implant in a heart failure patient. Natural sensors in the body can now tell the nervous system how to regulate heart function and relieve symptoms of heart failure by improving the heart's pumping efficiency.

Joining the Moonshot

Researchers at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center are collecting blood and tissue samples at different stages of cancer treatment for a new pilot called the Cancer Moonshot^℠ Biobank study, part of the National Cancer Institute's Cancer Moonshot initiative.

Connecting with our community

Wake Forest University School of Medicine created a pathway program with Winston-Salem State University to encourage more students to pursue careers as physician assistants.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering within the Wake Forest University School of Medicine joined with our sports medicine, orthopedic surgery and implementation science faculty to offer a football safety event with local youth and high school coaches.

Advancing maternal health research

An OB-GYN at Aurora Sinai Medical Center leads a study into whether simple antacids like TUMS can hasten labor and delivery in hopes of reducing the need for cesarean sections.

Aiming to expand job opportunities

Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine received the inaugural U.S. National Science Foundation Engines Program award, worth up to $160M over 10 years.

Virtual Nursing

We're pushing care delivery FORWARD. Twenty-two Advocate Health hospitals are using virtual nursing, improving quality and efficiency, reducing length of stay and enhancing nurse well-being. It saved our nurses 42K+ hours this year.
